Valuator

What is a valuator?

The valuator is an entity responsible for the administrative and accounting management of a fund.

The valuator of a fund ensures the accounting processing of all operations carried out on the fund by its manager and calculates its net asset value, according to a frequency specified by the fund's regulations.

The valuator, if not an internal service of the Asset Manager, is a company that values the portfolios of one or more Asset Managers on a daily basis.

This valuation of a portfolio requires the valuation of each line in the portfolio and therefore an exact knowledge of the positions. For this, the valuator is also responsible for regular reconciliations between the positions it has in its IT system and the positions held in account by the custodian.
