Performance
All performance figures are calculated in your selected currency based NAV to NAV with gross income accumulated.
Past performance does not guarantee future returns. The value of an investment can rise or fall with market fluctuations, and you may lose the amount originally invested. The material is based upon information that we consider reliable as of the date shown, but we do not represent that it is accurate, complete, valid or timely, in particular any data communicated to us by a third party, and it should not be relied on as such for any particular purpose. All material is subject to change.
The fund performance is calculated net of investment management fees including commissions and custody fees. The benchmark performances are calculated with net dividend reinvested when applicable. Both performances for funds and benchmarks are calculated using internal software fed by external sources (predominantly Datastream).
The exchange rates used to convert the benchmark and investment funds are the rates published by WM/Reuters at 16:00 (London time) on the last day of the month.

Portfolio Analysis
Management commentary
Despite a rising-rate environment that was unfavourable for equities, markets remained supported by strong earnings growth: +31% in 2026 and +12% in 2027 in the United States, and +17% in 2026 and +9% in 2027 in Europe.
Interest rates continued to rise, with the US Federal Reserve increasing its policy rate by 25 basis points to 4.00% on 16 September—its first rate hike since 2023. This pushed the US 10-year Treasury yield to 5.29%, a historically high level. The move was underpinned by persistent inflation, with oil trading at USD 103 per barrel, and a robust US economy, as illustrated by a PMI reading of 58.4, its highest level in five years.
At the sector level, technology gained 6.8%, led by semiconductors, which rose by 9.5% on the back of a favourable outlook for AI capital expenditure—USD 800 billion in 2026 and USD 1.2 trillion in 2027. Communication services advanced by 5.8%, supported by Meta’s significant 30% increase following the launch of Muse, its AI agent. This development disrupted the travel segment within consumer discretionary, which declined by 3.9%, as well as services within the financial sector, which fell by 3.34%.
Over the period, the fund gained 1.0%, in line with the MSCI World.
- Information technology made the largest positive contribution to relative performance, supported by our holdings in: Advanced Micro Devices (+32.9%), whose market capitalisation exceeded USD 1 trillion for the first time, driven by an acceleration in product launches; Dell Technologies (+20.6%), which is well positioned to benefit from strong demand for its servers; Samsung Electronics, which posted a more moderate gain of 6.9%.
- The fund’s underweight position in industrials and its lack of exposure to materials contributed positively to relative performance. This was complemented by a favourable stock-selection effect from Delta Air Lines (+9.4%), whose business remained resilient despite the geopolitical environment and high oil prices.
- Consumer discretionary was the largest detractor from relative performance, reflecting both the fund’s overweight position and an unfavourable stock-selection effect. Within travel, Booking Holdings (-16.1%), like other online platforms, was affected by growing concerns over disintermediation linked to Muse, Meta’s AI agent. Rising oil prices also weighed on Viking Holdings (-7.0%). Our automotive holdings also declined, including BYD (-11.0%) and Hyundai Motor (-11.6%). This was linked to the tightening of Europe’s trade framework for vehicles manufactured in China, while vehicle sales in China continued to fall in August. In addition, Richemont (-5.4%) was caught up in the broader deterioration in sentiment towards the luxury sector, which was affected by analysts’ more cautious outlook for the third quarter.
- Our holdings in consumer staples and healthcare underperformed, as these sectors are generally overlooked in a rising-rate environment. Decliners included Danone (-8.7%), Anheuser-Busch (-4.3%), Alcon (-8.8%) and Haleon (-8.1%), with valuations reaching historically low levels.
- Portfolio activity
We also lowered our exposure to the luxury sector, while maintaining a preference for Richemont, and reallocated capital towards our technology holdings, including Nvidia and Dell.
- Outlook
The portfolio remains positioned in cyclical consumer stocks to benefit from a recovery in travel activity, where valuations appear particularly attractive, as well as in digital consumer companies benefiting from AI-related investment. In this high-interest-rate environment, we remain attentive to valuations, interest-rate sensitivity and balance-sheet quality.
